What's weird is that on my computer, I have a personal OneDrive client running as well, and when I drop files in there, they upload instantly plus it never shows me the messages the work OneDrive has. We will also get a sync delayed message when there is nothing wrong with our network as well as an "upload failed" message inside Excel. Or they will get the message "Processing # changes" that will hang (I then have to reset the sync client with a " onedrive.exe /reset " command which works 90% of the time).
